Antivirus/Antispyware

Run this free virus scan on your computer to check for viruses or malware. Nine times out of ten the ESET scanner can remove minor spyware/virus problems, and if it doesn't clean your computer contact Pius and we can assist you.

This is a link to our favorite antivirus provider ESET. You can sign up and receive a free trial copy of ESET antivirus. Make sure you uninstall your current antivirus first, or you risk your antivirus software battling each other. CCleaner is a great little tool that can repair registry errors, and cleanup junk files on your computer. Just install the program and run the two utilities and you will definitely add some speed to your computer.

Browsers

Here's a link to Google Chrome. Google Chrome is an internet browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Chrome is a super fast browser and includes excellent security features to protect your computer.

Mozilla Firefox is an internet browser substitute to Internet Explorer just like Chrome. Firefox is much more widely accepted and works on the greatest number of websites. It is still faster and more secure than all of the Internet Explorer versions.

Safari is the "Mac" browser, ported over to Windows. If you have a Mac and would love to use the Safari browser on your Windows PC, we have the link!

Opera is a browser that has branched out onto all platforms. You can use Opera on your PC, Mac, even your cell phone! They offer great security and a ton of different features.

Internet Explorer 9 is the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer line. IE9 offers vast improvements over all previous versions such as better tabbed browsing, faster load times, and hopefully better security!

Office Tools

Open Office is a free program that pretty much tries to be Microsoft Office. This program will allow you to do everything you can do in Microsoft, it's just free.

Dropbox is a program that allows you to syncronize your files between multiple computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets and more. You simply install Dropbox on your devices, transfer files to the Dropbox folder, and away you go. Anything you store in Dropbox will be safely tucked away on their servers where you will never lose your files!

Logmein is a free product that allows you to install a client on your computer so that you can remotely access that computer from another computer, phone or tablet. This product is great to access a work computer from home or even a home computer from work!

Must Haves

Adobe Reader X is the free PDF viewer offered by Adobe. It is a must have for any home or business user.

Flash enables you to watch YouTube videos, surf the web, etc. Obviously it's a must have. Adobe Flash Player comes included with Google Chrome, but if you are browsing with something less awesome here is the link for Flash.

Adobe Shockwave Player is much like Flash, it's a must have for surfing the web.

Java is another must have if you even want to be on the internet. Most websites today have Java running on just about everything. Make sure your Java is up to date by clicking this link.

Communication Tools

Trillian is a multi client instant messaging application. Trillian lets you chat with your Windows Live, Yahoo, AIM, GoogleChat friends and many more. You can also use it to update Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare. It's also available on cell phones and tablets.

Skype is an instant messaging, video messaging, and phone calling application. With Skype you can call your friends and family at pennies on the dollar, video chat, or just instant message. Skype has personal and business plans, so check it out.

Cool Stuff

Evernote is a cool tool that allows you to store multiple notes and sync them across your computers, the web, and your cell phone. You can use it to keep lists organized, keep track of things, etc. Check it out.
